A university Don, professor Yunus Adebunmi Fasasi has observed that proliferation of educational institutions does not translate to national development
Towards this end,the existing government and private educational instructions should be adequately funded to actualise the nation’s educational objectives.
Fasasi ,made this known in llorin while delivering the 256th inaugural lecture of the university of Ilorin with the theme ” Holding education accountable for resources and result “.
The professor of education management underscores the importance of educational supervision whose objectives is to ensure high quality human capital for the socio- political economic and technological development of the nation .
He noted that government agencies, supervisors, parents and other stakeholders have complementary roles to play towards successful implementation of educational programmes and achievement of educational objectives.
Professor Fasasi of the department of educational management , Faculty of education of the university stressed that in line with government policy, administrators should ensure adherence to age specification and duration at each level of education.
According to him, “supervision is an integral part of education system,it’s legal backing in the constitution and the education laws since the period of colonial administration till date makes it an important for quality management and accountability”
He added that awareness of these legislations by some stakeholders is very low while compliance with them is not taken seriously by many of the citizens
Socio- economic and technological developments in society are causing constant changes in curriculum content, methodology and evaluation process to meet societal needs, he said, supervisors are expected to keep on learning to be able to guide their supervisees appropriately.
