There is a strong indication that the Kwara State University,(KWASU) Malete, is set to commence academic activities in it new campuses located in Ilesha-Baruba in the Northern and Osi Southern senatorial districts of the state.
This was made known by the Pro- Chancellor of the University, Professor. AbdulGaniyu Ambali when he led members of the school council to the palaces of the Emir of Ilesha-Baruba, HRH Professor Halidu Abubakar, and the Olosi of Osi, HRH, Oba Salihu Adasofegbe as part of the tour to assess the level of construction on the campuses.
Ambali charged the people of the two senatorial districts of the state to be ready for staff and students who woold soon commence academic activities in their areas
Ambali made the charge when he led members of the Council to the palaces of the Emir of Ilesha-Baruba, HRH Professor Halidu Abubakar, and the Olosi of Osi, HRH, Oba Salihu Abdulkareem Adasofegbe Arowobeku I as part of the tour to assess the level of construction on the campuses.
The Pro-Chancellor noted that over one thousand two hundred students of the Faculty of Agriculture, and one hundred and eighty students of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences are set to resume academic activities on the campuses of the University in the 2024-2025 academic year as the inspection of the construction presently on-going showed great improvement and advancement.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the State Government and that of the KWASU management to begin academic activities on the campuses which would fulfil the dreams of the people of the areas for significant development to the regions.
Ambali lauded the communities for supporting the sites of the campuses, urging the traditional rulers to prepare their people to welcome the students who would soon be a part of their kingdoms.
Earlier, Emir of Ilesha-Baruba, Professor Halidu Abubakar and the Oba of Osi, Oba Salihu Adasofegbe noted that their communities were eager for the students to join them, promising that they would be received with the best of hospitality.
Emir of Ilesha Barbara particularly noted that his community was a cosmopolitan one, being home to the largest livestock market in West Africa, he encouraged the University to leverage on the presence of the market in the community by commencing the Veterinary Sciences as part of the Faculty of Agriculture to add more value to livestock development in the State.
The traditional rulers lauded the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for ensuring that the dream of having operational campuses of the University in their domain did not die, pledging to do their best to help integrate both staff and student who would soon become part of them
It would be recalled that the Kwara State University was designed to be a multi-campuses institution with main campus in Malete, Ilesha-Baruba, and Osi. The concerted effort of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is about to bring this dream into fruition, fifteen years after the establishment of the University.
