The Wife of the Kwara State Governor, Professor Ambassador Olufolake Abdulrazaq has called for collaborative efforts between the Parents, teachers, guardian, agencies and government parastatals to implement laws on Violence against girls child to safeguard their rights
Towards this end, She noted that the administration of Governor Abdulrahan Abdulrazaq placed high premium on gender inclusion for them to contribute meaningful to the development of the state
Abdulrazaq , stated this last Saturday in llorin during the launch of a book authored by Dr.Zainab Bolajoko Balogun titled “Safeguarding the Girl’s Child Against Societal Vices” underscores the need to protect the rights of the girls for them to make their impacts in the society.
The Governor’s wife represented by the State commissioner for Solid minerals resources stressed that the girl child is faced with numerous challenges that requires urgent solutions , pointing out that society cannot survive without the contribution and participation of women.
According to her, A strategy should be put in place to safeguard the girls child from all forms of abuse, discrimination and violences by unsuspecting individuals who wants to take advantage of them”
In her remarks the Kwara state Commissioner for women Affairs ,Mrs Afolashade Opeyem represented by the Director Child ,Hajiya Alabi Idiat said the state government has put in place formidable laws to protect the girls child at all times assured that the state government would continue to safeguarding the girls child against all forms of violations.
Earlier One of the book reviewer The Special Adviser to Kwara state governor on Community engagement,Dr.Lawal Olorungbebe said child abuse should not be seen as a family curse.
advised the parents to always give their children the opportunity to expressed themselves willingly inorder to know what they are passing through.
Olorungbebe commended the author of the book for showcasing challenges of the girls child in the society and suggesting possible solutions which would go along way to addressed some of the challenges of girls child abuse in the society.
While speaking with the newsmen,,the author of the book Dr. Zainab Bolajoko Balogun said her passion for better life and care for the girls child propelled her interest in writing the book.
remarked that the girls child has the potential to attain higher levels if given the opportunity
According to her, “My upbringing and the family ties encourage me to come up with the book to be a rallying point that every girls or women,if given the opportunity will do better in making life more meaningful to live”
