{"id":451,"date":"2024-10-17T14:24:47","date_gmt":"2024-10-17T14:24:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theprintng.com\/?p=451"},"modified":"2024-10-17T14:24:48","modified_gmt":"2024-10-17T14:24:48","slug":"unllorin-to-graduate-256-first-class-graduates-at-39th-convocation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theprintng.com\/index.php\/2024\/10\/17\/unllorin-to-graduate-256-first-class-graduates-at-39th-convocation\/","title":{"rendered":"Unllorin to\u00a0 graduate 256 First class graduates at 39th convocation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shola Baraye llorin .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A&nbsp; total number of 12,042 students&nbsp; are to graduate from the University of llorin with no fewer than 256 First Class degree holders.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This&nbsp; was made known by&nbsp; the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, SAN, during a news briefing at the university auditorium on Thursday in llorin.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He stressed&nbsp; that the 39th&nbsp; convocation ceremony would mark a significant milestone in the university\u2019s academic journey, as graduates from various disciplines, including Medicines, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Veterinary Medicine, would be awarded degrees.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe 39th Convocation Ceremonies shall witness the graduation of 12,042 students across various faculties, including 256 First Class graduates, a testament to the hard work and dedication of both students and staff,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally,&nbsp; He said 1,875 higher degrees would be awarded, including 323 Ph.Ds, 1,280 Masters, and 92 Postgraduate Diplomas.<br>&nbsp;commended the university community for maintaining academic excellence while adapting to changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&#8220;The University of Ilorin has made remarkable progress in its digital transformation journey, which has enhanced efficiency, security, and accessibility in our&nbsp; service delivery, academic operations and processes ,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Vice Chancellor remarked that the key achievements is the migration to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform, which has improved data security and reduced downtimes. noted that the university had also implemented a scalable Enterprise Resource Portal (ERP) to streamline communication and transactions between students, staff, and administrators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He further added that the automation includes the introduction of a digital admissions ranking system, automated student union elections, and the clearance process for final year students, which could now be completed remotely from anywhere in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Egbewole said in addition to technological advancements, the university has made notable progress in research and international collaborations. With a \u20a6200 million Senate Research Grant (SRG) revived in 2023 and 2024, researchers are being supported to undertake groundbreaking projects. The university boasts 20 patents and innovations, and its Laboratory-to-Product (LABTOP) Centre was recognized at the Inaugural Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Offices (IPPTO) awards in Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Collaborations with international institutions have also expanded, with ongoing partnerships in veterinary research, plant breeding, and stem cell research, positioning the university as a leader in innovation and scientific exploration.&#8221; he further added&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Agriculture, He said the university has partnered with Broad Grains Limited to provide students with practical training in mechanized farming. While the university is working on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project with Oriental Energy Farms to cultivate 4,000 hectares of land for maize and soybean production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the convocation draws near, the Vice Chancellor reassured stakeholders of the university\u2019s commitment to academic excellence and continuous innovation. \u201cOur desire to be number one in Nigeria is on course.
