Environmental Sciences,&nbsp; at the University of llorin , Professor, Ganiyu Amuda Yusuf, has decried the&nbsp; absence of National Standard as a major hindrance to the adoption of Building lnformation Model (BIM ) in&nbsp; Nigeria&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yusuf,&nbsp; the Dean, Faculty of Environmental Sciences at the University stated this on Thursday While Speaking&nbsp; during the 281st inaugural lecture of the institution, Advocated&nbsp; for a Standard-Based Pricing of National Frameworks in Building Services<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;The Environmentalist urged the building services professionals to adopt standard-based pricing mechanisms to enhance accuracy and facilitate effective monitoring to guide against incessant building collapse, pointing out that Nigeria had competent and qualified professionals in the sector for quality and solid structures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lecture, titled \u201cValue Proposition for Enhancing Cost Management of Subservient and Neglected Elements in Buildings\u201d, explored overlooked aspects of cost management within the construction sector. highlighted the absence of national standards as a major hindrance to the adoption of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;He emphasised the need for policymakers to establish and enforce clear, nationally applicable standards for BIM implementation, further recommended the development of a local measurement standard that aligns with Nigeria\u2019s specific practices, materials, and regulatory frameworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The don also called on policymakers to support educational initiatives, including vocational training and continuous professional development, with a strong focus on sustainability in construction practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tracing the historical roots of the profession, He noted that Quantity Surveying received formal legal recognition in Edinburgh in 1729, when practitioners were required to demonstrate competence before being engaged by clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe primary duty of Quantity Surveyors is to ensure that clients\u2019 resources in construction projects are utilised efficiently to deliver optimal value for money while meeting legal and quality standards,\u201d he said&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He&nbsp;
